Marketplace

Discover and import factories, agents, automations, and teams from GitHub.

Open Marketplace from the website navigation. The catalog is a standalone page, separate from the local workspace. Each import type has its own page: factories, agents, automations, and teams. Search the examples, then open an entry to inspect its source files and example import command.

The website currently displays a labeled mock catalog. Its repository names and star counts are fictional. It works without a running local runtime, and its examples cannot be imported from GitHub.

The CLI discovers real public GitHub repositories by topic and ranks them by stars. Bundled OpenFactory starters appear below GitHub results. Stars measure repository popularity, not installations. If GitHub is unavailable or rate limited, the CLI keeps the starters available and displays the error.

CLI

Run these commands from your project directory:

openfactory factory leaderboard
openfactory factory find review --type agent
openfactory factory show https://github.com/owner/repo
openfactory factory add https://github.com/owner/repo
openfactory factory add https://github.com/owner/repo --agent reviewer
openfactory factory add https://github.com/owner/repo --automation daily-brief
openfactory factory add https://github.com/owner/repo --team code-review

add imports into the current directory and registers it as a local factory when necessary. Use --path /other/directory to choose another directory, or --project <project-id> to target an existing registered factory. Both destination options are optional.

show lists all available names and the source files. add --dry-run prints that preview without writing files. Both commands require the local OpenFactory runtime. In a source checkout, use pnpm openfactory in place of openfactory.

Try a bundled starter:

openfactory factory add openfactory/code-review

Publish a repository

Commit your definitions using the standard repository layout:

factory/
  factory.yaml
  agents/
    reviewer/
      agent.md
  teams/
    code-review/
      team.yaml
      instructions.md

Agents need stable IDs in their YAML frontmatter. Team members reference agent file paths relative to factory/. An automation is an agent with a non-manual schedule.

Add the appropriate GitHub repository topics to appear in the corresponding leaderboard: openfactory-factory, openfactory-agent, openfactory-automation, and openfactory-team. A repository can use several topics. Topics advertise its contents; OpenFactory validates the actual definitions when you open the repository. Repositories without a topic can still be opened and imported directly.

Only public GitHub repositories are supported. Sources accept full URLs such as https://github.com/owner/repo, as well as owner/repo shorthand. Pin a source with owner/repo@<40-character-commit-sha> or https://github.com/owner/repo/tree/<40-character-commit-sha>.

Import behavior

A factory import adds its agents and teams to the destination. An agent or automation import adds that agent; a team import includes its member agents and shared instructions. All imports preserve existing destination files and factory-level settings, including its name, repositories, icons, and scorers. Source factory-level settings are not merged; source model defaults are resolved into the imported agents.

Imported files receive unique paths and agents receive fresh IDs. Team references are updated to those paths. Agents start paused with approval required; their prompts, model settings, and schedules remain available for review. No source code, dependencies, or secrets are installed, and importing does not run agents. Enable them from your factory when ready.

Source and destination revision checks reject stale imports. Importing the same entry again creates another independent copy. Shared repositories are limited to 100 regular definition files and 1 MB in total; symbolic links and invalid definition paths are rejected.
